Why #23?Beckham could not have the 7 at Real Madrid — Raúl had worn it for years. He took 23 for Michael Jordan, reportedly after Victoria pointed out whose number it was, and kept it at LA Galaxy afterwards.Source: si.com

Why #32?On loan at Milan in 2009, neither of Beckham's numbers was free: Pato had 7 and Massimo Ambrosini had 23. He flipped 23 round to 32, the number of Magic Johnson, another of his basketball heroes after Michael Jordan, whose 23 he had worn at Real Madrid.Source: 90min.com
